Why you Should Shop Small

I think everyone can collectively agree how awful the economy is. Which is why more than ever now, we need to start supporting local or small business! Now I'm not saying you have to support every single person no matter what, but if you like their vibe and find the stuff they sell peek your interests, then go! Don't wait to shop until they're doing a closing sale. If you're in the area and have a minute to stop then do it!

Buying local supports your community

Have you ever noticed when there's community events taking place, it's never the Walmart helping out? I've been to many local tricky trays that raise money for community causes and I've never seen anything donated specifically from Walmart or Target or whatever big stores in your area. It's always the mom and pop shops or even local mechanics offering like a free oil change or something. When you buy local, you support local. It's really that easy.

Running a business is expensive

Now I don't own a store front, but I can only imagine if it's almost $2,000 for a regular apartment, it probably so much more for a commercial space. That's not including their other expenses like employee payroll, utilities, etc. On top of their everyday expenses too like their car payments, kid's activities, etc. Buying that candle, bag of chips, or whatever is just one step in the right direction to helping them be able to support their families.

Quality over quantity

It's hard at first to pay more for what seems like less especially if you don't have the money to do so. Once you taste the quality of a fresh baked pie, you most likely won't look at Weis baked goods the same way. The quality of some of the items sold at Small Businesses can't be matched. Getting something cheaper somewhere else isn't always better.

90% of the time they're friendler

I say 90% of the time because I know there's people in business out there that have no business being a business. That's the other 10% you need to avoid. I've always found MOST of the time the employees and owners at small businesses are so much nicer than at the big stores. When we got married we opted to use a local tailor for our Tuxedo rentals. They went above and beyond what Men's Warehouse would've and at a fraction of the cost. Everyone looked great and we were able to support local. A win win (Thank you DV Cleaners).

Even if you can't afford their prices following is free

The amount of times I've heard "they have such cute stuff but I can't afford it" many times. It costs $0.00 to follow or share anyone on social media. Even a compliment or recommendation goes a long way.
